Alison Newhouse - Vice President
Alison Newhouse is now retired after spending 22 years working for the ACT Department of Education as a School Secretary. After moving to Canberra in 1996 from Darwin with her husband and two children she continued her first love of playing Hockey and represented both the Northern Territory and the ACT in their respective Women’s Veterans Hockey teams. After many dedicated years she decided that a change was needed and performed in her first show with Queanbeyan Players in 2006. This first experience stayed with her for many years before returning in 2011 to do her second show with Queanbeyan Players and has been a part of this wonderful family ever since. Joining the committee in 2013 was something that she had never thought about before but was interested in seeing the other side of the process. She was Vice President in 2019, President from 2020 - 2022 and is again the current Vice President.
David Tricks - Treasurer
David has been involved in theatre since he was in primary school, performing on stage until he discovered there were less stressful ways to be involved in productions. He has just finished working on his 95th show and has been involved in the Orchestra, Stage Crew, Lighting and Sound, Front of House, and Production Management. David has worked with almost every theatre company in Canberra including Queanbeyan Players, Canberra Philharmonic, Free Rain, Dramatic Productions, Ickle Pickle and many others, as well as Willoughby Theatre Company in Sydney. Outside of theatre David has been a long-term public servant working across a number of Federal departments in Sydney and Canberra, and a member of the NSW Rural Fire Service, something he started over 30 years ago.
David served on the Queanbeyan Players Committee for three years before taking a break and returning this year in the role of Treasurer, and he looks forward to contributing to Queanbeyan Players’ continuing role of bringing high quality musicals to Canberra and Queanbeyan.
Brigid Cummins - Secretary
Brigid is a multi-instrumentalist, accompanist, and private piano teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Music from the ANU, as well as an AMusA diploma in piano performance.
